Lavender Guinea Fowl Hatching Eggs - SIX (6) EGGS
PRIORITY SHIPPING INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THIS ITEM
Lavender Guinea Fowl are more rare than typical guinea breeds. They're said to have a calmer disposition and a friendlier demeanor. Here at the homestead they get along well with our flock of ducks and geese, and show no territorial issues with our barn cats and dogs. We take great care in ensuring our birds are healthy, have access to free-range forage daily, 24/7 to meet their ideal dietary needs--and they get plenty of exercise!
Our hatching eggs are carefully selected from the nests of mated birds and examined for any nicks, scratching, or bloom deterioration. Each egg is individually wrapped and each carton secured within the shipping boxes.
Guinea eggs are pretty easy to hatch and, in our experience, much less challenging than hatching out goslings. They require an incubation temperature of 99.5ºF (for forced air incubators) and 50-55% humidity for the first 25 days. On day 26, increasing the humidity to 65% is recommended to assist with hatching. Guineas typically hatch between 26 and 28 days. As with hatching any eggs, sanitation, egg turning for the first 25 days at least three times per day, and maintaining consistent humidity and temperatures are imperative to a successful hatch. We also candle eggs at days 4 or 5, and 14. Be sure to discard any eggs that are deemed infertile or no longer developing.
Please note hatching egg orders will not ship out from the farm on Fridays and Saturdays. This is a precaution to prevent eggs from being delayed at a post office over the course of the weekend. In the event eggs are detained at a post office, simply allow them to "rest" untouched for 24-36 hours before setting in the incubator.
Hatching eggs will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail and can not be combined for shipping with other orders. We are NOT responsible for delayed shipping times or lost packages. Please be aware of weather extremes in your geographical location, as intense heat waves or cold snaps can threaten the safe arrival of your eggs.
Because circumstances during and after shipment are out of our control, we cannot guarantee hatchability. Under ideal conditions, our hatch rate this season was 90%! Note that shipped eggs may endure temperatures that are not conducive to hatching, and they may be bounced around or dropped during shipping. Due to these variables, you can expect a hatch rate that’s slightly less than standard.
