Join Angela Ferraro-Fanning of Axe and Root Homestead and Kirsten Lie-Nielsen of Hostile Valley Living for an On-Site Permaculture Class at Hostile Valley Farm! Learn about permaculture homesteading hands on, tour the farm and share your questions with these experienced homesteaders.
Class includes a farm fresh lunch and other refreshments.

Online Bake Along: Mastering Sourdough Delights with Garlic, Chili Oil and Grains
​September 9 2023 // 10:00am — 11:30am EST

This bake along class is all about:
  • how to include roasted garlic in your sourdough
  • how to make, store and use chili oil
  • how to cook and use grains in doughs
  • how to shape dough for a loaf tin
  • how to make the softest pull apart sourdough rolls
  • how to plant, grow, harvest and store garlic

Inspired by the ‘Bulgur wheat, roasted garlic and chili oil loaf’ from Elaine's new book, in this class she will be showing you how to shape the dough for a loaf tin, how you can use the dough to make rolls as well as her super soft ‘cheesy herby pull apart rolls’.

Angela will be showing everyone how to make chili oil, and talking about planting, growing and storing garlic.

Online Bake Along: Harvest Baking with Pumpkin Shaped Loaves and Fall Flavors
October 21, 2023 // 10:00am - 11:30 EST

This bake along class is all about pumpkin loaves! It will include:
  • how to prepare dough to make a pumpkin shaped loaf
  • how to tie it, bake it and finish the loaf
  • how to use pumpkin and/or butternut squash in loaves
  • how to grow and store butternut squash and sweet potatoes
  • how to make my fall spiced focaccia
  • how to make your own fall spice mix

If you’ve always wanted to make a pumpkin shaped loaf, join us and we’ll show you how! You’ll see and be invited to join in tying the dough to create the shape, to score or not to score, and
how to finish the baked loaves.

Angela will also show you how to make my pumpkin or butternut squash purée, as well as how to grow, harvest and store butternut squash and sweet potatoes.
Elaine will share how to make her fall spiced focaccia studded with sweet potato pieces and pecans. Both ladies will chat about their favorite fall spices and flavors and how they make their own versions.
