Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) Seed Packet (50 seeds)
Axe & Root Homestead is finally sharing seeds from our own growing spaces (with free shipping)! I've been seed-saving for years and using my own stock in my gardens. In 2024, I grew more crops than ever and excess seeds were saved to share with other growers. These seeds were grown in my permaculture gardens, totally naturally, with zero additives, pesticides, or herbicides. Small batches are hand-harvested, dried and packaged here in central New Jersey.
About Feverfew
This cheery plant boasts dense green foliage with cute, button-like blossoms. Feverfew is a hearty self-seeder and biennial or perennial in specific climates. While not technically invasive, it can become difficult to stop the spread in some locations. Research is strongly advised before sowing.
Feverfew, almost identical in appearance to chamomile, is best harvested when the flower cluster is roughly 3/4 of the way open. To use for dried floral arrangements, harvest when the cluster is fully open.
Typical Germination: 10-14 days
Light: Full sun
Soil: Nutrient rich, well-draining soil
Sowing Depth: soil surface as light is required to germinate
Start seeds 4-6 weeks before date of last frost
Height: 2-3 feet tall
Permaculture Uses
- An excellent plant for hedges, borders, and to fill in gaps in guilds as feverfew suppresses weed growth
- Blossoms attract pollinators
- Feverfew is said to have multiple medicinal uses including migraine relief. Research is suggested before using in the home apothecary.
- An excellent companion plant for many vegetables in the garden to repel caterpillars and beetles, moths, ants, cockroaches, and more.
- Feverfew leaves and blossoms are edible. Note people with allergies to chamomile, ragweed, or yarrow may also be allergic to feverfew and should avoid it.
- Some growers use feverfew as a chop-and-drop mulching plant to add nutrients and biomass to soil.
Be sure to understand your own growing zone and microclimate before planting seeds. Research is advised on plant varieties, requirements, and specifications. After seeds arrive, refer back to this product listing for suggested sowing instructions. Instructions will not be shipped with seeds in an effort to save paper.
IMPORTANT:
Refunds will not be provided for ungerminated seeds. These seeds are used in my own personal garden and have been found to be viable. Please research seed sowing processes before purchasing as faulty sowing, user error, extreme weather conditions, or other factors resulting in poor germination rates are outside of our control. No exceptions.
